Really sounds to me like the vocal, Guitar & organ are either live or an alternate track (not sure about the bass, but the drums are from the album track).
-
@voxsupreme The vocals are live but the band is recorded.Very common for tv in the 60's and early 70's

Their first lp was titled "A Group Called Smith", that included "Baby It's You".

Gayle McCormick had the sound and the look to have a much bigger career than she did...wonder what happened?

@SixtiesPopGold "A Group Called Smith" was the name of their first album, so it was probably used as convenient way to introduce them while also reminding people of the name of the album. If the say it in the record shops, they'd probably remember who they were by seeing the entire phrase on the album cover.

@peacedotnik I stand corrected - Bacharach it is. But my main point is that it was playback - possibly singback.
-
@voxsupreme The Beatles were covering it, too. Written by Burt Bacharach, it was a big hit for the Shirelles in '61.

This is NOT live. Compare the the drummers lame playing at 2:00 with the soundtrack - and the guitarist´s embarrased smirk of the situation at 2:20.No guitar cable, no amps and the very fast fade out add to the picture of a sing back. Pretty good cover though and a brave rearrangement of an almost forgotten Beatles song.

Is that Jeff Foxworthy on bass!? LOL!

@SixtiesPopGold Nope they were called "a group called smith"
What a beautiful talented Lady who had to be sick of singing this song.lol
