Hiking Jackass Pass to Cirque of the Towers

Here, Shelli Johnson and Kathy Browning, of Lander, WY, hike from Big Sandy Opening to Big Sandy Lake, Jackass Pass to Cirque of the Towers and Lonesome Lake in Wyoming's Wind River Range. Jackass Pass was so named because "only a jackass would travel through it." Jackass Pass provides hikers access to the Continental Divide and spectacular views in all directions. The famous Cirque of the Towers are huge, towering, granite walls and peaks surrounded by alpine tundra and lakes. This is some of the most scenic country in the world!

We climbed the Cirque late 70's and early 80's and know this trail well. Thank you so much for the highlights I remember every one. The approach to Big Sandy Lake (we once hiked this portion after midnight under a full moon),North Creek crossing, the long hike up to Jackass past Shaft and Arrowhead Lakes and the magnificent Cirque of the Towers. When the time comes my son (who also climbed with me in the Cirque back when) has consented to spread my ashes on Jackass Pass overlooking the Cirque.

I love your video. Good job of capturing the feeling of being there. Was recently there for 8 days with some friends. You two must have come in a day after we left. What a gorgeous and fun area. Your video is exactly how I remember it with just a little less snow.
