@CaffeineWonderGirl the weapons they clean are not issued weapons...most likely the weapons of recently discharged soldiers. IDF soldiers can let their own gun leave their sight...if they lose it or it is stolen they get jail time.

It's strange that the IDF soldiers don't have responsibility for cleaning their own weapons; weapons maintenance/cleaning is a normal and important part of US Army life and is not delegated to anybody but that soldier. Anyway, as for the Sar El volunteers--- awesome. Maybe some will take the next leap and make Aliyah or join the regular IDF.
