http://drakepin-up.com/ Having fun with this one this week. Along the way, so far in 2010, I have tried a few different approaches to the themes. I obviously like to try out different techniques as I go, but the story, or theme, or reason behind each drawing has been morphing as well. Since I have been insanely busy at work these days and my mind is constantly brainstorming new ideas and concepts for my real work, I just want to tune out and focus on the art over the weekends. For me, that is what this project is all about. This is about having fun. Sometimes a story will click with me for a pin-up and it works, but if I have to spend too much time on the theme, its not as fun and the end result is not always better for it. This weeks pin-up is a good example of focussing on the craft and trying a few new practices that I have learned throughout this journey. It has been a struggle to keep up this frequency of one a week, but it is drawings like this that make it worth it. Everyone always tells me which ones are their favorites, but for me, it all depends on how the process was to create the art... and this one was a lot of fun. Check out the final versions at http://drakepin-up.com/ of course there are things that I would do different next time, but that is why I have another one to do next week. See you then.

Check back every Monday for a new Pin-up from DrakePin-up.com or you can become a fan on Facebook at " a pin-up a week by DrakePin-up.com " or follow me on twitter at drakepinup.

  • Did you use any photoshop in this one? or just illustrator

  • @AjblueDesign it is 90% photoshop with a little illustrator in the middle for the line work.

  • Awesome, first! Love this one, I can see you did have fun with it.I like the last version that was shown, the one with the red was ok and i wasn't too fond of the comic looking one. Keep up the good work man.I noticed in illustator that you didn't use the blob brush and that you used the paintbrush tool. How did you set that up?

  • @PALguy329 Thanks! That is my pick as well. In illustrator I just use the default round paintbrush and make sure that size is set to pen pressure.
