Tribute to Gerry Mulligun.
Il 19 gennaio 1996 Gerry Mulligan si spegneva nella sua casa-studio di Darien nel Connecticut. Non aveva ancora 70 anni. Fra i maggiori musicisti americani, era il più legato all'Italia perché aveva sposato una donna italiana. Nel jazz ha lasciato un vuoto enorme come solista di sax baritono e sax soprano, fra il romantico e l'ironico, esprimendo sempre un sottile lirismo melodico, impensabile prima di lui su uno strumento come il sax baritono.
A dieci anni dalla sua scomparsa, nasce l'idea di ricordarlo con un progetto dedicato proprio al sax baritono e a questo grande musicista.
Javier Girotto, eclettico e straordinario musicista del nostro tempo interpreterà insieme alla New Project Swing Orchestra di Trento e Bolzano l'affascinante repertorio che rese celebre in tutto il mondo Gerry Mulligan.

Orchestra composta da musicisti di Bolzano e Trento. Bravissimi, sanno suonare tutto e bene. Quì amalgamati molto bene con Javier Girotto.

a perfect mix of "Line for Lions", "Bernies Tune" and other works by Gerry Mulligan. Love the improvisation parts of the bariton sax,( the Rolls Roys among the saxes.) and ofcourse the tenorsax. Thanks for sharing this. Music makes the world goes round and this type of music never bores me.
