I thought it was uncomfortable when John McCain often addressed the audience as "friends". It's just a bit presumptive.

Why is Pikachu missing? Are the pre-school children taking place of your psychological need for a childhood figure? Where is the Pikachu? Did you put him back in his Pokeball? WHYYY????! ;_; WHYYYY?!!?!

I get child logic. It's to make the children feel like their part of the world. Soothe their psychology, etc..

@darkgreenranger Yeah, it does make sense. And it's easy to just use "friend" for everything instead of having to decide between using "child", "classmate", etc depending on context.

I completely get where you're coming from. I read this quote that I like to remember. It said "If the desire to write does not translate into writing, then it isn't really the desire to write". I may have paraphrased a little bit.

@DreamerRealist I like the quote, but I think it's a little pessimistic. Like potentially you still have the desire to write, but you don't have the desire to START, and that's what's holding you back...but once you get started the desire to write will reunite....or other possible scenarios...
