  • This is perhaps my favorite aria from any opera, it is so hauntingly beautiful, and Carreras' dark, plaintive voice suites it perfectly. I have heard several versions of him singing this, but I'm sorry, I can't tell you which one this is. Thanks for posting, though!

  • OK, you owe me, I figured out. This is the rendition he recorded in 86 for the Film Julian Gayarre. If you look for it in here you will find it. The sound of your clip is much better but it is the same rendition. In the film, Gayarre sings this right after receiving news of his mother's death.

  • I think this is a recent recording. I think there is a harshness in the sound that he is trying to compensate for; and very successfully I might add.
