a newb here with a question to anyone in the know. I've just started taijitsu... I've done Karate, Judo and Aikido before years ago.. how similar is taijitsu to jujitsu, cos this looks like a great art.

@seancoppinger Taijutsu is a Japanese term for any martial art skill using any set of body movements that come under "Empty-Hand" Combat. The term Taijutsu is commonly used when referring to a traditional Japanese martial art. Taijutsu is commonly used as a term for a Japanese Martial Art without a designated style, henceforth calling themselves a style of Taijutsu. Although in Technical terms Jujutsu fits the term Taijutsu, the term for grappling skills is most commonly referred to as Jujutsu.

The techniques themselves weren't bad. However, they must be trained in SPARRING to be useful... Do you guys spar with resistance? I would definitely cross-train in this style if I ever have the opportunity - the knife defense could come handy...

@Agtren Hi, long time waiting for this reply. Yes we do sparring, train with resistance as well as ground fighting. This was purely a demonstration for secondary school children and we tried to keep it as fluid as possible. And hopefully entertaining :-)

Out of all of the techniques shown on this video, not one was finished properly!! Surely your dojo teaches always finish!!! FACE - BODY - FACE!!

@bobbykyshtolski long time waiting for this reply... obviously we teach how to finish an opponent. This was purely a demonstration for secondary school children and we tried to keep it as fluid as possible.
