CityTV Toronto Channel 79 ID 1982

Here's an ident from when CityTV was still channel 79, and using the instrumental "People City" theme. Sadly the tape cut out after the opening few moments of a CityPulse newscast.

Ah, the pre-57 days, when the wrist nearly snapped after turning the UHF dial from TVOntario 19 all the way to 79.

I don't remember the "from the action on Jarvis Street..." intros being used until at least 1984.

@MAJIC102WMJQ Wow, I had the knob-type TV's too growing up. Though I couldn't imagine going from 21 (i live on a UHF island) to 79, lol.

VHF Television should be banned and UHF TV channels should go up all the way to 99.

@greenpail For our family it was from WUTV 29 all the way to CITY 79. Don't believe CFMT 47 existed then. I had a 13" TV in my bedroom which I was not supposed to watch on school nights. The UHF tuner had a VERY LOUD click-stop dial for each UHF channel. If the TV was on a low channel and I turned the dial to see what was on channel 79, I was busted because of noise of changing the channel! But I quickly wised up and would check the TV guide when I got home from school and preset to 79 early!

Citytv belongs on channel 79 and not channel 57.

@wmbrown6 yes, you're right...but i think they used a cover version, if i'm not mistaken--i forgot the name of the artist who did the cover, though... :)
