No, they are Shan people. Shan are also called Tai Yaiy they are the cousin of shan and thai people and the language is very similar. they come from burma but burma government killed her family. they kill thousands and thousnads of shan people, so many ran away to Thailand and some live in lao in luang prabang

To Tai ppls in Shan State, keep your hope alive. I hope that one day we Tai ppl (Lao, Thai,Shan State,Tai ppl in Vietnam and Sip song Pannah) will unite.
