Traditionally the time to lift Dahlia tubers is after the foliage has been frosted, but before it gets too cold that the tuber itself is affected. Martin Fish from Garden News shows you how

  • My Gawd! This guy really knows how to murder dahlia tubers! You dont just stick a shovel in the ground to pry the clumps up, you're supposed to dig around the clump 1st to cut the anchor roots. And the way that he shook the clump and then banged the shovel against it really shocked me. This is 1 way to break the necks of the tubers. You can safely shake the dirt off by lightly thumping on the stalk of the clump, or you can wash it off with water or use compressed air.
