Al Jolson (May 26, 1886 -- October 23, 1950) was an American singer, comedian and actor. In his heyday, he was dubbed "The World's Greatest Entertainer". He was born in the Russian Empire (the part which is now in Lithuania) and emigrated to America at the age of five with his Jewish parents.
Louis "Lou" Silvers (September 6, 1889 -- March 26, 1954) was an American film score composer whose work has been used in more than 250 movies. In 1935, he won an Academy Award for Best Original Score for One Night of Love.
