a lot of people dog on the character of Gunray, but i loved him. and yes i am an OLD school SW fan
-
if anything, he was a villain throughout the entire prequal trilogy, and the last Seperatist leader to die, that must count for something right?

Gunray was a coward and a pawn of the Sith but he was an alright villian.

@arsenalrulez1000 Watch The Clone Wars - sheds a lot of light on the activity of all those groups turning the war.

Gunray's droid army vs Palpatine's clone army.

I liked Gunray. When Vader killed him even as he ofered the surrender of the CIS I think that was showing how far he had fallen
-
@marcelbonaparte he died on the same day

Viceroy Gunray was an alright villain, but when i watched ROTS as a young kid i didn't really understand his role in the film. Plus, why did he put sooo much trust into Palpatine anyways??? What was he supposed to have achieved???? What are the Trade Federation exactly???
Oh well, Viceroy Raygun was nuthing but a dumb Shatinarian who's character should have been explored more, and really should be the main bad guy rather than Count Dooku in AOTC.

Well, the movies really didn't explain the backstory at all. Gunray trusted Sidius for a couple of reasons. First, Sidious pretty much got him his position as leader of the Trade Federation by killing off the other leaders. Second, Gunray was very afraid of Sidious, so he didn't want to cross him.
The Trade Federation is pretty much what the name says, they're a conglomerate of traders.
