  • If I was going into outer Space this is the kind of music I would like to listen to on my journey.

LOL LOL LOL Play on Matthew.

You bring Heave closer to where I live.

    One Love Brother.

  • This is at first a big pile of bullshit, becoming later a good impression of other guys who know what they are doing. Were he 13, it would be watching a genius. But as it is, another fake with a big ego, making a buck on people that like to admire the clothes of the naked king. Have to admit he has sensitivity, but he can't play piano, nor does he know anything about tradition.

  • Matthew Shipp is playing a 2 Day Residency on Weds 7 + Thurs 8 Sept w/ Evan Parker & Dunmall / Edwards / Sanders. £12.50. Call 020 7254 4097 for more.

  • one of the best jazz musicians active today.

  • @freejazzfree: true, I would say that the greatest musicians don't consciously think about genre at all.

my 1st comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek so it wasn't meant to be taken seriously, but I see what you mean that his style/approach is actually quite different

  • @snubbs741

its difficult to play an instrument in a particular 'genre', in which certain people have defined it in such idiosyncratic ways, without sounding like some of the greats. i'm sure cecil inspired/influenced him at some point or still does.

  • @freejazzfree: yeah I realized that after actually listening to the whole video. i take it back haha but he definitely is influenced by Cecil.

  • @snubbs741

actually his approach and sound is quite different.

  • @wortism haha he thinks he's Cecil Taylor
