Even if you delete all macros from an Excel workbook, you may still see a security warning when the workbook opens. The message says "Macros may contain viruses. It is usually safe to disable macros, but if the macros are legitimate, you might lose some functionality." Then you have the option to click a button to "Enable Macros" or "Disable Macros".

This message is confusing, if you know that there are no Excel macros in this workbook. When you check the list of macros, nothing appears in the list.

This video shows you how to get rid of that warning, by deleting the modules where the old macros were stored. After you follow these steps, and save the Excel workbook, the macro warning will not appear, the next time that you open the Excel workbook.

  • wht about if I need use the macros and want to desable the macro warning automatically? I mean to create a macro to do this..do you know? thank you very much, I think if you dont know nobody does or it is not possible.....see you

  • @ducksaj No, it's not possible to set up a macro that will disable the macro warning for other users.

Add an instruction sheet in the workbook, and explain how to enable macros, so the novice users will understand what to do.
