Thank you for your excellent review on the LDS church Welfare system! I am LDS, and always appreciate it when those of other faiths can honestly see that we WANT to help everyone, not just Members of the Church!! Thank you SO very much for that! Each Canery will welcome people of any faith, in fact, it is very rarely asked if you ARE a member because, well, that isn't of concern! What DOES concern us is soley that we are able to help others in preparing others in getting others may need. Diane

If you're going to keep that much food be sure to rotate out your food storage so it doesn't go to waste. No matter how well packedged the food will eventually go bad so it kind of goes without saying that you should only keep food in storage that you actually use in your normal every-day cooking, that way you can consume the older stuff and keep replenishing your food storage to keep it fresh.

The LDS church encourges its members to have at least one years worth of food storage for thier family because 1. its prudent, and 2. they believe it is necessary for the immininent second coming of Jesus Christ and the turmoil that will surround that event (not kidding). They are nice to everyone they meet because 1. its just polite, and 2. they feel a moral obligation to try to convert you for the salvation of your immortal soul (not kidding). They do know how to prepare for a disaster though.

@smartacus88 och no lol
think i have a bit of welsh in my blood [ grandparents have the name knight and the name clarke in my mother's side ] my grandparents on my father's side were wheelrights [ made wheels for carriages ] in tunbridge wells
in my late 50's and not skilled in anything [ by the grace of GOD and eventual trust in him i have survived doing various jobs and now blessed in that money works for me so i don't have to ]
i agree that your country has some unspoilt places

@stephen22564 we probobly will go belly up first monetarily, but we have alot more land for growing food and hunting,as well as better growing seasons...if we're just talking about pure survival after worlwide meltdown then i think america is the clear choice..but i suppose their are more things to consider than that.....what is your age,if you dont mind that is..alot of companies are hiring in my neck of the woods, as long as your not 70 you should have a shot! are you from england? a scot?

@smartacus88 thank you for your kind words
i do probably have enough money already which i am living off but unsure as to how it would convert in the states
the US seems to be the one that will go belly up first and i'm of an age where i doubt i could get any employment
i have toyed with the idea
found a good friend in KINGMAN , ARIZONA
haven't been able to get a clear picture of the pros and cons

@mnthunter88 Hey Steve we spent about $400.00 , and got about 600 lbs of food , much of that cost was we bought almost $100.00 in dried apple chips. try visiting their site directly google "provident living" , then go to food storage ; i welcome further questions

I use the LDS cannery extensively. I buy most of mine in bulk, except for the onion flakes and powdered milk. Both of those I'd rather have in #10 cans than in buckets. Also, dealing with the powdered milk is a little messy and I'd rather handle it at the cannery where clean-up is so much easier. Good video.

@katzcradul yes i have to agree bulk is much easier for us to work at our pace , and you're right the powdered milk is messy lol

Thanks for this video reminder. I wish my local ward would allow non-members to participate with this program. Did you put Oxygen absorbers into the mylar bags too? Don't forget a good long term food storage cookbook to go along with those items. LDS puts out a great one and many videos on youtube & blogs on recipes. I've made a small notebook divided up into 3 categories - entree, desert/breakfast/Misc. of various recipes
