the easiest way to solve your problem is to remove those locking screws then grind them to make them shorter.

Hi...I am looking for a new trem (I have a Edge pro on my prestige Ibanez) I want a trem that has the distance between strings shorter Fender like....Edge pro has big strings distance and I dont;t like that...is this trem system what I m looking for?
-
@petedogg369 - Either that or just purchase a direct replacement! Takeuchi TRS Pro, Floyd Pro, JP580LP, Original Ibanez TRS (not the TRSII), etc...... All "direct" and top quality replacements. There are many more of course.

@spryce000 He should have just trimmed the bolts down and not messed with altering the body. He did way more than what was needed. He didn't exactly plan this job out right to say the least.

nice video. i want to do the same to mine. do you have a link as to where you purchased the gotoh? thanks
-
Dude... WHen are you getting to the part where you admit this isnt a drop in replacement? Drilling out new post holes and routing the body isnt exactly a perfect fit. Just admit that you stuffed up before some poor kid butchers thier guitar. amazing.

Does anybody know where I can just order just the tremelo arm assembly? I just want to put the gotoh housing and bar in on all of my old Floyds. I love their design with the set screw so you can adjust the tension but I don't want to spend 1000 bucks to replace the whole tremolo assembly on all of my guitars. Any help would be appreciated.

Gotoh made the Ibanez bridges for years- they still might be making them. So I don't see what the issue is, posts are the same as well.

4:51 Oh lawd, my eardrums!
Seriously though, I need a new trem for my 80's Ibanez RG350DX. It has it's original Lo-TRS II, which is pretty rusty (Craiglist steal, minus the trem, LOL). I am pretty sure this series of vids (Installation and the re-routing) will help tremendously!
Thanks!

great job
-
omg, how could you cut your guitar like that without having a second opinion? you don't love guitars that's for sure...
-
FYI to all who are doing this trem swap to Gotoh or alike ....
If you not able or not comfortable routing the trem pocket , you can also order shorter replacement allen head crush block rods for the Gotoh's , Floyds, Schaller's !

Did you notice a big difference in playability with the Gotoh posts versus the stock Ibanez posts? I cycle through pretty frequently and I like returning them to stock form when I sell them or trade them in. Thanks for the in depth video.
-
What did you did to have worked well, but maybe cutting a small part off the screws might have worked too.
-
no doubt. and far less painful to the viewer.
actually, i'm amazed it came out as well as it did...
-
Hi 99volts! Just wondering (as I am planning to do the same to my guitar), how much did your luthier charge to replace the posts? Thanks,
-Ryan

now i have a question theres 2 ways that a floyd is recessed 1 is where theres wood cut out for it to go back and the 2nd is that out line thats cut out with some foam in the recess can u explain the difference
a did change a trem in an ibanez but was easier to replace the tuning bolts with short ones than damage my wood and pain guitar, the complete 6 bolts set was 1dll in homedepot

@tipodearriba yeah, I should have done that.

NICE JOB! Did you also replace the nut hardware?
Jaxx137 6 months ago
@Jaxx137 No I did not, although I did end up shimming it a tad higher later on.

I was changing strings on my floyd and one of the posts popped up about half inch, it's kinda like a drive shaft teeth, i knocked it back in and no issues playing, but is that normal?

@peteq1972 not sure, never heard of that.
