Death penalty for child rape?

Supreme Court is considering Lousianna law about death penalty for rape of child under age 13. Death penalty for rape of an adult (woman) is illegal under Supreme Court ruling.

Yes, heard that today....Supreme court ruled 5(yes)/4 (no) that the death penalty for child rape is unconstitutional. Need to listen again to news report...the part I heard (had to turn NPR off bec. my kids were in the car and it got graphic) cited: the only crimes worthy of the death penalty are crimes of homicide in which another person is killed.

I am Anti Death Penalty for Rapist defender offender should be sentence to death by lethal injection for rape a child under age of 12 and an adult woman. The should put him Hell Hole life term in prison.

I think less than half of rapes even get reported, and less than half of reported rapes get the justice they deserve. And the kicker, is that MOST rapists are repeat offenders!!

really, well when you come across a 4 year old child who has lost a third of her lower intestines because some sicko kidnapped her, beat her, and then raped her in the ass so violently, you tell that little girl that you want mercy for her attacker. I'm sorry, but people like that have no place in society, and tax payers should not get stuck with the burden and cost of taking care of a piece of crap like that.

I don't believe that the death penalty belongs in a civilised society. It has never been shown to be a deterrent, in fact States (and countries) which don't have it, have lower homicide rates than those that do. Retaining the DP may also be a motive for these criminals to murder the child, the only witness to the crime, to save themselves.
