  • silly question i guess, does it power up? i can only find on ebay in japan.

does this work with pal region?

  • @jpstyles85

Yes, the XRGB3 uses it's own power adaptor. It will work with PAL consoles BUT the 21pin RGB connector is wired differently to astandard scart. You'll need a japanese Saturn RGB cable. Pretty hard to find an official one but you should be able to find a 3rd party on on EBay.

  • Finally i own this console but i had one problem,i connect the RGB cable from the saturn to theXRGB and do not get any sign,I want to know what I'm doing wrong. l,

Your XRGB could be set to a resoultion that your monitor can't display. can you see any of the XRGB menus on screen? If not you should do a hardware reset on the XRGB.

    How to reset XRGB-3 ?

    1) Power off XRGB-3 (STANDBY)

    2) Press and hold the "MENU" and "OK" buttons, while keeping them held down, press the "Power" button

    3) You must keep holding the three buttons for a few seconds, until the activity lights flicker

    4) release all buttons

  • In case you didn't already know. You can use the VGA input on the back for RGB as well. You just need to buy or wire up an adapter from RGB to VGA. I have my Saturn permanently connected to the back and I use the front for MegaDrive and SNES.

Hmm, I knew it was possible to convert a scart (21pin RGB) in to a 15 pin VGA style RGB but never really thought about doing that with my saturn. Quite a good idea to save on changing the cables over alot.

  • I enjoyed this, it really illustrates the value of a good upscaler. Thanks for sharing! :)

  • Looks awesome!! I'm so close to buying one of these. Just waiting a few weeks to see what happens with the new XRGB mini that is about to be released. If it doesn't impress me, then it will be time to get the XRGB-3. Thanks for the demonstration.

  • @Yakumo1975 You can either buy a new Saturn RGB cable and cut of the RGB21 end and solder on VGA and stereo leads yourself, or you can find (or build your own) adapter cable with a female RGB21 socket to VGA and stereo. I use the adapter myself and there is no quality loss compared to the GAME IN :)

Another thing, is it your camera that makes the scanlines looks so solid when playing Dead Or Alive in highres mode. In reality it's flickering a lot with only a hint of scanlines, yes?

  • Thanks for your help if I have more questions, I will contact you again.
