Blacktown Hospital - Baby Ashton - Whooping Cough

Our Son caught Whooping Cough (Bordetella Pertussis) at 2 days old from Blacktown Hospital.
We were in a private room an only had a couple of visitors - we believe it was contracted from staff at the Hospital - Though their investigation failed to find anything.
We were home for a matter of hours b4 Ashton became lifeless and went to Westmead Childrens by Ambo. There he stopped breathing and spent 5 days in PICU.
He is all good now & we want to thank all our friends and Family for their support.

Yes, Blacktown is a public hospital - though you can go in as a private patient which allows you to select your doctor and have a private room if one is available. This is what we did but unfortunately you can not select your nursing staff, or others.

On our second day - after the nurses did not want to help us bath our new born son, i asked for the towels & wash to do it my self to which the nurse said, "No - i too tired - someone else - do for you later"

@pusshead80 its not all australian hospitals, i've been to many around Sydney, and yes blacktown is a bit crappy, because its public and not well looked after, but not all public hospitals are like that, like say The Westmead Childrens Hospital, that is a fantastic hospital.
