Apple launch iPad tablet computer. Apple chief executive Steve Jobs unveiled new touchscreen tablet computer the iPad on Wednesday 27 January 2010 in San Francisco, California. He claimed it is a "revolutionary" product between a laptop computer and a smartphone, costing $500 (£200) plus to $829 on launch price. iPad is the latest toy or gadget for over 7.5m Apple iPhone fans. iPad uses 140,000 iPhone applications. It is just an over sized iPhone. It has a rotating 9.7 inch LCD touch screen with 1024×768 pixels resolution. It is 0.5 inches thin, and weighs around 1.5 pounds (1.6 pounds for 3G models) with 1 GHz Apple A4 chip (not-Intel), Safari browser, accelerometer, microphone, 30-pin connector, compass, full capacitive multi-touch, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11n Wi-Fi, microGSM, 3G access on higher-end models. iPads 3G modem doesnt support T-Mobiles 3G frequency. iPad is not revolutionary. It is a great gaming device. For productivity and business work on the iPad, Apple has introduced a new version of its iWork software, as optional extra ($10 each application), specifically designed for the touchscreen iPad device. However, you can open Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint documents in iWork.

Make sure you know the drawbacks before buying. iPad has optional 16 to 64 GB of memory, and the ability to run almost every iPhone app in the App Store. It can connect via USB to sync with your PC or Mac, play HD video, act an ebook reader and a lot more. A lot of the things were excluded from iPad. It does not support Adobe Flash. iPad not a widescreen device. It has no multi-tasking so you're stuck doing one thing at a time. It has no camera so you can't use it as a Skype device. iPads 3G modem doesnt support T-Mobiles 3G frequency. It has no memory card slot so you're stuck at the size you buy. You can't replace the battery ... unless you send it back to Apple for an expensive swap. It has no HDMI output. iPad cannot play Flash, something that millions of pages use as standard. Pay extra $130 to get a 3G slot, arm and a leg for a SIM and data contract currently on AT&T ($15 for 250 MB of data per month, or $30 monthly for an unlimited plan) in the USA. As a result, most consumers would still prefer fully functional, flash capable, expandable, 120gb, camera equipped £180 netbooks or tablets with a proper keyboard, such as HP Slate, Dell Streak, Asus Eee, Compal, Notion Ink Adam, MSI, Quanta, ICD Vega, Google-HTC, etc. However, Over 7.5m Apple iPhone fans see iPad as a a life changing gadget that they can't live without!
