(SANBORN, IA) June is Dairy Month and your chance to learn exactly how local producers make your milk.
Western Iowa Dairy Alliance will host a dairy farm tour and open house tomorrow at the VanEss Dairy in Sanborn, Iowa. The afternoon will include free cheeseburgers, brat burgers, and Blue Bunny ice cream.
Guided tours will give guests a chance to see firsthand how cows are cared for, and the important role farmers play in producing dairy.
"People have to realize what goes into their food every day. I mean, we're out here seven days a week, 24 hours a day and we're feeding the world. To me that's a really great blessing actually to be able to do that. And it's just really important that people know where their food comes from," says Harvey VanEss, owner of the VanEss Dairy.
The open house is tomorrow afternoon from 4:30 to 6:30 at 2996 Sorrel Avenue in Sanborn. And make sure to watch our weekly series "Proud to be a Hometown Farmer" on KMEG 14 in July to find out why the VanEss family came to Iowa.
