There are so many things i could talk abt here so i apologize for rambling...I hope this helps you out in terms of giving you some perspective...Congrats on being smart enough to go to Drexel....haha...thats like Azn Central down there!!..
furthermore...many Korean Americans start embracing who they are as Korean Americans and Asians during their college years, not just adoptees. Korean American adoptees are unique and special and they are definitely part of the international Korean community...you adoptees are part of our Korean culture, community, and history Thank you Onpoint for embracing your Asian roots finally..
I agree with many of your comments. All Korean Americans go through the issues that you raised, not just adoptees. But you guys have additional issues such as being Korean in a non-Korean family and the label of "adoptee" and wanting to be accepted by other Koreans Korean American adoptees should be embraced by the greater Korean community because they are Koreans like us......racial self-hatred you talk about -- many of us have been through it. Glad you are starting to embrace who you are.
I'm not Asian, I'm Black. But I really enjoyed this video. Your parents obviously meant well but I think while White people can sympathize, they can never empathize and truly understand the deep effects of racism. That's why it's really important to be comfortable in your own skin and own race before you can appreciate other races. Great video!
