Strategy by Blackbird. I'm just demonstrating it. Savestates were used in making this video.

A few years back, Translucent Air figured out how to win Two-Week Test without waiting out the two weeks, managing a score of 300 points in 12 days. Recently, however, Blackbird figured out how to bring that down to 8 days. I've made a video to show just how crazy this task is.

The basic strategy is to lure almost every dangerous unit away from the HQ. The AI prioritizes attacks on capturing infantry, so they are frequently used as decoys. On the last day before the capture, only one Neotank is in range to attack the HQ. The APC and a recon are used to protect the capturing mech. (It has to be a mech in order to have any chance of scaring the enemy APC off the HQ.)

On Day 8, a weakened tank and an anti-air are destroyed for the Power score. In total, 4 units are lost, and 21 are made to secure Technique.

  • Oh yeah, sorry for double post, but I want to ask something important. I play on a emulator, and often the enemy doesn't move the way I want - I know it's pretty random, but once I start playing, the moves my enemy is going to take are fixed. Even with savestates option I cannot make my enemy change its mind. So in the end, if I want the enemy to make a different move, I have to start the whole map from scratch...

Is there a better/faster method in which I can manipulate the enemy's moves?

  • @nobunaga0700 Use the in-game save feature, reset, and reload. Making a hard save allows the enemy movement to change, though it may take several tries.

  • I always wondered, does Joining your troops make you lose points for Technique? I mean, does it count as a 'unit loss'? I usually abstain from joining units unless there're going to be destroyed next turn. I only join them if there's some merit in doing that. And usually I prefer to keep weakened units safe in the back, as they still count as a 'alive' unit.

Oh yeah, and I guess it's common knowledge to make a wall of infantry to get perfect technique score ; D

  • @nobunaga0700 Technique is based entirely on units lost out of units built. Joining can only help your Technique, because if you lose the joined unit, you lose one unit instead of two, but it still counts as two units towards the total. It also frees up space once you hit the 50-unit limit, making it almost necessary for perfect Technique on some longer War Room maps.

  • I remember being cramped in fighting for survival myself. You made this look easy Fogel -dragonite

  • @wouterW24 All credit goes to Blackbird, it's his strategy. I just demonstrated it.

  • @Absnaba93 Thanks.

  • @GortonMichael The music is from a ps2 game named Mana Khemia and the name of the song is Cristalized. Great game btw.

  • ughh.. cant get them to move perfectly... either the APC gets hit instead of the infantry or the MD tank doesnt move the 5 spaces or the artillery stays to guard the HQ... wth :(((

  • can anybody tell me what this music is?

  • @MrHinchapelotas sorry for double post but It's 1 space southeast

  • for some reason, that tank at 1:06 keeps moving 1 space north from where it is supposed to be, I'm playing on a real gameboy advance so I can't use savestates

  • Best music ever.

What a strategy! How long did it take to get that medium tank to move 5W? I could never get that one move...

  • This is..... GENIUS!

  • As far as AW2 is concerned, there are two occurrences that directly affect luck:

    1. The time you take to select a target for attacking

    2. If you specify a path that has two or more plausible possibilities (similar to how luck is manipulated in Fire Emblem)

So, if you aren't attacking anyone, and I presume you're always taking the same paths also, your luck will never change. You can either save before attacking or make random movements, or just hard save, which averts this problem entirely.

  • This is crazy! Blackbird has some pretty deep knowledge about the AI.

@JesusFreak197 Saving 2 days before some important event is supposed to occur works well for me. I also change the order of my actions if I happen to reset, but mostly it's just luck.
