@comakiller The "Swiss Air Tragedy"? U refer to Swissair Flight 111, which crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off Nova Scotia on Sept. 2, 1998 when an in-flight fire, caused by faulty wiring used in the construction, ate the plane's critical systems from the inside out. All 229 people on board were killed in the accident.
But it was not said crash that sealed Swissair's fate. It was financial difficulties caused by the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. U get what I mean?

@Cliobrio Genau, Ordnung muss sein! :-)

swissair war mal die beste airline und das zu zeiten als man wenn man(n)Lufthansa flog, froh war dass man von der stewardess nicht geprügelt wurde!gell lieber liberio198026.grins!!

This fixation with national carriers, all this belongs to an era when flying was expensive and the world dominated by the likes of PANAM,SWISSAIR or AIR FRANCE..with todays lowcost airlines and incredible competition from newstarters like Emirates all this is history.

Swissair? Beste Airline? Die gingen an ihrem eigenen Grössenwahn unter und mussten schliesslich von uns Deutschen aufgepäppelt werden. Darum, Ein hoch auf die Lufthansa! Die beste Airline der Welt!

From 1982 to 1995, have always used Swissair mostly, and tried the other airlines, of which Asian airlines mostly Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific I can attest can come to a ssecond and third. But Swissair service was incomparable...it truly was the best airline in the world!!!

You clearly have no clue of what you're talking about. Tell me when and how did SR evade taxes? Tell me what aircraft did SR help engineer and produce? SR111 had little to do with engineering mishaps on behalf of McDonnell Douglas. Little outreach? Swissair served 157 destinations with a fleet of 76 aircraft and the airline's name was a synonym for Swissness, qualitative, reliable and friendly service for over 70 years - not bad for a country of only 7.5 million.
