In regard to Camerons 'inspiration ' you may wish to read 'Call Me Joe' by Poul Anderson . The story first appeared in "Astounding Science Fiction" in 1957 . Control of a blue tailed dude on a planet by a guy in a wheel chair ! ! Plagerism ?! :/
