Most stupid idea ever. It will cost a fortune to dismantle the packaging flat, packing it all clean in shippable box and send it back to China. Doing this will not 'helping the planet' (not that the planet need to be helped anyway). If you want to do something just put the packaging in the recycling bin.

Here's an idea. have customers send you back the packaging and offer them a discount code in return. you save money by re-using your own packaging. and customers have an incentive to help the environment. you can have a drop off center program at local stores. I really respect Patagonia GM Craig Throne for and whoever else was involved, for allowing the customers in like this and being upfront with both the Pros and Cons of your your companies footwear manufacturing process. I can not speak for all your customers but I, thank you and look forward to seeing how we evolve as customers and manufacturers. perhaps you should just ask your customers what alternative product packaging to help the environment would they like to see.
