`Ewa Beach is located along the leeward coast of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi. As of the 2000 Census,it has a total population of 14,650.
The term "ewa" means "stray in Hawaiian, it comes from the myth that one day the gods were playing a game of ulu maika' or "rolling stones" and one went astray.
'Ewa Beach has James Campbell High School, Ilima Intermediate School, and six elementary schools - Pohakea Elementary, Ka'imiloa Elementary, 'Ewa Beach Elementary, 'Ewa Elementary,Holomua Elementary, and the newly constructed Keone'ula Elementary School.
In 2005, the team from 'Ewa Beach, representing (locally) West O`ahu and the United States, captured the Little League World Series crown, beating Curaçao 7--6 in an extra inning after a walk-off home run by Michael Memea.
Hoakalei Resort will feature a full-service marina, hotel, resort spa, resort residences, a vibrant waterfront commercial district, and the Hoakalei Country Club -- home of Ernie Els' first signature golf course in Hawaii. Golfers will start teeing up on the fairways and enjoying the 19th hole at Hoakalei in 2009.
Also envisioned for Hoakalei is an exclusive Beach Club offering ocean-front dining and recreational amenities for members. Boaters will be drawn to Hoakalei's state-of-the-art marina. Residents and visitors alike will enjoy taking a casual stroll along the marina's promenade, past the Kauhale Preserve and the wetlands, perhaps choosing to follow one of the trails that wind through Hoakalei or even the beach park next door. This is the vision for the future for 'Ewa Beach.
