As a control engineer, Nassim's concept of anti-fragility corresponds directly a requirement in adaptive control called persistent of excitation. When designing a control system (e.g. climate control) using a nominal mathematical model of the system with unknown uncertainties and parameters, we sometimes use techniques to adaptively estimate both the uncertainties as well as the unknown parameters. In the absence of "persistent excitation", the adaptation of the uncertainties may get stuck.
Taleb is a truly revolutionary thinker. I hope his new book will have examples of companies outside of the financial markets that take advantage of fragility and hence work in "anti-fragile" mode to one degree or another. We design such systems (or precursors for truly self-adaptive systems) and I can't wait to see what he comes up with. I hope from a practical point we're going ahead of him, but we'll see. If someone else is going there - pls, let us know.

We thrive on challenge, we require it. Fragility vs challenge-seeking. Challenge yourself to strengthen yourself.
