I can't understand how anyone can possibly dislike this concept......
-
I remember doing a bit of further research regarding this system. The Vertigro can be used on any non-arable land as long there is sufficient sunlight. Infact, you can have the operation running even on Antarctica. Also, the strain of algae is locally based, so using the best algae based on local environment becomes the ideal strain.

recycling existing CO2, so no significant increase... which isn't bad. increases are bad. the problem is the best biodiesel algae are the weakest algae strains that stronger algae strains overtake, so it's hard to grow the perfect algae completely isolated

this is great!!

@Wiromax3 there will always be CO2 produced into the atmosphere
-
So in the end there will still be CO2 produced into the atmosphere?
-
@tixximmi, it's expensive because there are only a few algae cultivators operating in the nation. If we, as consumers, would demand this type of fuel, we'd get it in quantities that would reduce its price. But, unfortunately, you're all far too lazy for that.
-
It's not catching on because of the cost. About $200 per gallon.
-
The reason this isn't catching on really fast is the production while impressive isn't entirely profitable on the scale they have yet. Not to mention the subsidies that oil and corn producers receive from the government. There are too many people trying to keep oil as the main source of fuel for cars because of all the money shored up in it. Just think of the trillions of dollars worth of equipment dedicated to producing oil products that would become worthless.

So why not. Let's go already.
And also, the correct spelling is "algae"

Thanks, I fixed it.

Very interesting! Why is this not catching on more?

I have no idea, I guess more people need to know about it.
