While this Gent's video is creative and inexpensive (I salute him for this vid) you really dont even need to make this tool unless you want one, to be able to remove the handguard...go here:
I made one from a 3 foot length of 3/8 threaded rod. Beat the hell out of it in a vise until it is u shaped, slip rubber hose over the part that will touch the gun. slip over handgrips, Brace end under leg, pull down. this leaves you one hand free to poop the handgaurds off. Cost, about $3.
