The jingle when I open the hood is the plymouth script falling off. Chrysler corp justified fins because they may improve aerodynamic stability at speeds over 70 mph. With todays higher speed limits and influx of mass number of cars on the roads, perhaps they should reintroduce the fins for function as opposed to style in the 50's. This original wagon is a future project of mine, that I cannot show in action, as she has no brakes, but I did drive her to this present location last year at 40 mph on the highway (good thing it was mostly up-hill). If you crave to enjoy other vintage machinery in motion, then motor on over to my channel and also learn of the original novel Seven Skins (now restoring the fiction market with SCRIBEWORX.NET).

  • nice wagon, what size engine is that 318?

  • The engine is a stock poly 277, which was then bored more and offered as the 318 in 1957.

  • Hey, watch out. There's a skeleton sitting behind the wheel..."death rides the turnpikes"...

  • This car loves being decked out for Halloween - my favorite holiday :)

  • that's a sweet little honeypot

  • @jasonmiller283 If i'm not mistaken, i believe chevy owned Plymouth. When you look at the logo at the front of the chrome on thr 50's models it looks just like chevrolet's,

  • sweet old peice of mopar history those were days when cars were cars im a chevy man but love the old history of all makes and models right down to the volkswagens thanks for allowing the internet world enjoy seeing it.

  • Amazing to watch! We had a '56 Savoy growing up.. (6 cylinder, though) Had it for years as a beater. Parked it to go into the service and it ended up having to be hauled away as junk. :(

If we had only known better. Thanks for the memories.

  • @aruizdonatoable 360 started in 71. the small block 318 LA started in 67. the polyshpere 318 was 58 or 59. 273 (my favorite engine =) ) started in 64 and ended in 69. dodge plymouth desoto and chrysler all had different displacements for the polyshphere. and hemis were available to all marks except the lowly plymouth.

  • The 1955 260 ci poly v8 grew through 270,277,301, and 318 in 57-66. The second la version began in 67 and continued through the 80s.

  • Stopped using them in 1958 except the 2x4 318 for that year.

  • @vintagemachines I think it would love a new a paint job and some good rides now and than more ;) ... I would :P
