Convoi - Removal Royal Dutch Shell research facilities (EN)

Convoi completed a major relocation job for Shell, one in which the entire range of skills was put to the test. Workstations, technical installations, chemicals, archives, and hazardous substances; the whole plant had to be relocated from several buildings into the new Shell Research Technology Centre Amsterdam (SRTCA) site. An 800 metre move which - including the 15 months spent on preparations - took a total of 20 months to complete.

Due to the magnitude of the project a complete project-team was formed, consisting out of a project leader which was supported by 3 executors, a safety expert, a planner and a Relocation Service Desk Officer.

During the actual execution period - April / August 2009 -- 1.400 complete workstations were moved by Convoi Project Relocations. The industrial relocation involved moving some 1.000 technical arrangements, which varied from a simple laboratory arrangement to a complete 85-ton outdoor installation. For every technical installation a pre-arranged plan was set up in which all the specifications were stated which were important for the relocation.

All in all, this relocation project was an extremely complicated and demanding one. Yet, it was also satisfying as a large-scale satisfaction survey among Shell staff showed that Convoi's efforts had been rewarded with a very impressive average score of 90%.
