After over five years of faithful service, my old video camera finally bit the dust following a particularly rainy recording session. Unfortunately, an upgrade is not in the budget and likely will not be for at least the next year. That means no new videos from me for an indefinite period of time, hence why I've been going through some of my older videos and posting them here.

However, not wanting to miss a video of another colorful lashup on the D&H, I decided in desperation to try out the video function on my iPod touch this afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could record 720p HD video, something that even my old camera could not. Obviously the video quality is nowhere near what one could achieve with a standard HD camcorder, but it's at least good enough for Youtube use. I'll admit the composition is not the best here; I had to prop my "camera" up on a dumpster since I don't have a tripod small enough to hold it (someone out there has to make one). Nonetheless, at least I know I have an emergency backup option if I ever have any more "must record" situations!

Without further ado, here's CP 258 heading uphill through Pittston Township with a trio of SD40-2s in different paint schemes. The leader is a CEFX "Bluebird", the second a standard CP, and the third an Iowa, Chicago & Eastern. The train has just entered Reading & Northern rails at DUPONT (just north of here) and is currently climbing uphill through the valley. I chased this one from Hop Bottom south to Penobscot; you don't get a chance to shoot stuff like this every day!
