It is to dry out and warm up the futon. since humidity is high here, and the bed is full of cotton, it needs to be air dried when possible. It really is wonderful to warm the bed up, too. And unlike a heating blanket which can feel overly warm, this warms it up so you can get in. You then turn it off, and let nature take its course.

Think of it as a blow dryer for your bed on those damp cold nights when you need a warm dry bed.
