There are companies and governments that profits from poverty. As long as those people rules the world there is no hope to change anything. Look at the electric car concept. US government killed the whole concept including research in mid 90' because they needed to profit from consumers buying oil. Now the reserves of oil are depleting so electric car has green light. Electric cars would be now on much higher level. 11:59 is still too soon for greedy governments and corporations.

The biggest mistake ever made by the environmental movement was to declare that to do nothing about climate change would cost more than to fix it. The corporate world silently declared, "Cha-ching! Let's deny it exists and we can reap the massive profits from what we've caused!" Win-win for them, total loss for humanity. "Only when the last fish has been caught and the last tree has died will we realise we cannot eat money!"
