@TheBigNeff84 it is Mike, he was around 12 there, search for 1993 Bluegrass Youth All-Stars to see the full video, also check out Michael Cleveland Part 1 to see some Vintage Mike. I play mandolin (not so well) in that video

great musicians. i just bought a mandolin & this is really inspiring. thanks

Amen...doesn't concern itself with whether or not it fits an exact description of bluegrass music...
I am so sick of music purists. Music is music...if you cannot appreciate music for what it is, you have no business discussing it.

Amazing!

@lazysmurf420 How is it giving them crap for stating the fact, that they are not Bluegrass? They was listed as Bluegrass.
-
@bluegrasssingingman you are very wrong. If you listen to sean, his entire rhythm is backbeat bluegrass. The chord progressions arent bluegrass, the arrangements are and the orechestration is. I wouldn't give them crap for stepping outside the 5 chord genre that they so easily step outside of. It is a good thing.

Nickel Creek are good pickers, but there is no Bluegrass in this song. In the rest of their music, you can't say there is any there either. Nickel Creek is New Grass. Which is POP Country to Real Country Music. I'm not saying their the same Talent
as POP Country. They have Talent, that POP Country will never see in their music. POP Country is as bad as Disco.

Is that a young Michael Cleveland on violin at 0:47?
