Oak Springs Carnage

This is what happens when you play with Mother Nature. When you visit Maupin, Oregon, and run the Deschutes River, this is what you'll get to do. Actually this is just the professional river guides having a little after-hours fun.

Great flip! Did the guide (Kyle Buswell) hit the shelf were he landed? It is pretty shallow there.

No, he came out just fine. As you can see, he's the one on top of the raft downriver flipping it back over upright for the rest of them. Glad you like the clip, they were having a great time and were able to surf the rapid about 23 times with only 2 flips. That's what they call a "fun run".

sorry to hear your experience wasn't more enjoyable. Give River Drifters a call in Maupin and ask for Kyle Buswell as your guide for a full day and he'll definitely show you a great ride (he was the skinny guy trying to hold onto the bottom of the raft as it endo'd). gotta get back on the horse sweetheart. :-)

i dont under stand why peole would ever EVER go surfing on oak springs. u r almost gaurunteed to fall out or flip.

I did this with Kyle! Summer of 2006. And the outcome was just the same. We came out a little bruised and battered, but it was an adventure, for sure. Hope he is still alive and well:-)
