Choose to be me

When I was abroad it was quite common to see young people get drunk every party.
I didn't like to drink, but I was afraid to be rejected by the group so I started to drink too. Soon, I started to feel I needed to drink in order to be part of the cool atmosphere in those crazy parties. I knew I was in a big trouble.

However, one night I reached the conclusion it was senseless to drink to have fun, to try to be cool, to pretend to be someone else or ignore the problems. I could be myself without carrying any mask. So I decided to say ¨thanks but no thanks¨ to everybody who was trying to force me to drink. A great deal of people got really angry with that answer. They were amazed I could have fun with out drinking anything; they were surprised I could survive by my own. They tried hard to push me to drink, but they failed.

Finding out more about alcoholism, I discovered the sad case of Jacqueline Saburrido
a girl who suffered a car accident because of a drunk junior. It really made me think more deeply about the alcoholism problem. I felt good with myself I could stop it in time. It's completely stupid when the people drive and they are drunk!

At last, I really respect the people who drink responsible and the persons who struggle for to not become alcoholic every day. But most of all, I respect the people who believe and respect themselves and never pretend to be someone else just to be liked. This video is dedicated to all those persons who do not drink alcohol; to all the people who make an effort for to not become alcoholic; to the persons who respect the people who do not drink; to the people who break the mold and they are not scare to break free and say ¨no¨ to the losers who put pressure on them in order to drink...and finally to Jacqueline: I know you will make a difference in this odd planet. I know I'm not the only one with these feelings inside. May the Lord bless you...

@elbirvive What bad taste trying 2 make us all feel guilty for what happened to Jacqueline. Most of us never drink & drive, and had nothing to do with it. As little as YOU did. Blame the asshole responsible for it, not everybody that enjoys a drink every now and then. Not all of us are alcoholics. Just as all priests are not paedophiles. Complete sobriety is alright, just try not to spoil everybody else´s fun by showing up to preach your faith. THAT is not cool, just boring.

Whoa! It seems like you have serious problems with the alcohol, dude. Otherwise, I don´t see any reason to take a simple video so seriously and if you read the description of my video it says that I respect people who drink in a responsible way (did you read it?)

Honestly, trying to preach your faith about drinking alcohol is the best thing in life is just overrated. Try new hobbies, man. Get a girlfriend or boyfriend, but get a life.

@elbirvive Maybe they tried to make you drink in parties to help you with your lame personality? And perhaps you stopped completely when you realized drinking couldn´t cure it either. You´re stuck with it. People sometimes drink simply because it´s F-U-N. For you it might be "escaping one´s problems", causing "loneliness", that´s why your gospel is so funny. Wonderful video! The music is awesome! This is so true! I hate the taste of alcohol, Never will I drink it, there is no point. I rather drink water, there is much more sense in drinking water. I'm glad world still has people like us who are not afraid to be different! and most of all, dont have to drink!
