glass tube cutting demo

I used some 31.7x4mm simax here. First, score 1/4 to 1/2 way around tube, then put a single drop of water right on top of score mark, make sure it beads up nice, the heat up a 7mm (or close) clear rod to white hot and press down right onto the bead of water and score mark, it may take 10 seconds or so for the crack to work its way around the tube, and if it doesn't goo all the way, just give the tube a tap or pick it up gently and manually snap the rest, it will go very easily. I learned this technique from Devin Somerville so all props go out to him:) GLDG members, I'd love to hear comments from ya's!

hello I have a quick question, how could I cut a 1/4" off the end of an 18mm glass downstem?

cool man have you seen the other way to cut thick glass with yarn and lighter fluid? anyways are you a dead haed that makes bongs and pipes if so show your work

Thanks man, I struggled with this until seeing how short of a score (1/2") and that you apply just one drop of water and stab that with the molten glob. Before I was scoring around the tube a third of the way, wetting most of it, and going "wtf". :-) Cheers
