  • @onlymusiciansallowed you said it........especially about Richter......these guys reproduce notes like a computerized machine........

  • perfect example of how not to play the piano: NO imagination, NO creativity, only note's note's and note's. just like richter: nice reproducers, but they NEVER understood the real meaning of making music: playing with the heart instead of playing just notes. very sad. without richter and pollini, music stage would be different: more emotion and "true" music making instead of reproducing.

    Hi.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion.

Until now, I haven't heard any of Novaes' Chopin Etudes.

    Kindest regards,

    Geert Dehoux.

  • @geertdehoux ...listen to Guiomar Novaes. My husband and i have an old VOX record of her performing the Etudes, and nothing compares! Of course her technique is phenomenal, but she used it properly...for conveying her rich and thoughtful interpretations. Her Chopin work is other-wordly, and this record is one of our most cherished in our library.

  • while they are indeed magnificent players and world class performers - and are rightly celebrated in THEIR times - listening to the likes of Argerich, Pollini, etc...ALWAYS makes me RUSH BACK to find something Rubinstein to listen to ...sort of just to "clear" my neural listening pathways - especially when it comes to chopin...just my bias, more likely, but I can't help it.

  • @rekab7070 what surprises me about pollini is as he has "matured" he plays his old "fireworks" (such as chopin that made his first reputation) as if he's trying to prove that he still has the most magnificent technique around...the opposite of rubinstein who , even with some loss of the youthful "speed" - somehow brought even greater clarity to his concepts ,musical lines, and only death and complete blindness stopped him..

  • volcanic,marvellous!

  • wow, powerfull! love it, Pollini is amazing

  • NO expression, nothing... only ff.

  • Notes and notes, noise and noise... and, like most pianists do, too much right pedal!
