i prefer using my mini maglite with a teralux bulb and an iq switch in candle mode. 2 batteries last for atleast 10 hours on high setting. 25% setting is alot alot brighter and more comvienant than that. i got it all for 20 bucks. if its too bright for while sleeping toss a water bottle over it.

I've had one of these for a number of years, and it is by far the best backpacking lantern that I have purchased.
She failed to mention that if you hold down the power button the light will dim or brighten... Great feature.
