I think that it takes meeting a true sociopath and suffering from their abuse before you realize that these people really exist.

@rayme4raw (Part 2) of getting what they want (not always the case), then they are capable of doing so without remorse.
It doesn't mean they're all dangerous by default.

@rayme4raw Well again, you say "target" as though it means that sociopaths are out to hurt people. That's not necessarily the case.
I've studied human psychology for a number of years, and I've found Sociopathy/Psychopathy to be the most interesting (to me, anyway). Sociopaths are simply people who know how to manipulate and how to achieve what will benefit them - without the burden of guilt or empathy. It doesn't mean they're out to hurt people, but if hurting someone happpens to be a way

@SeedsOfHatred According to "Snakes in Suits" one out of every 25 people are sociopaths. You mostly won't recognize them unless you become their target.
-
@rayme4raw Believe it or not, you meet "true sociopaths" every day of your life. (Something to think about, no?)
Sociopathy/Psychopathy does not always manifest through violent behavior. That's become the general public's interpretation, but it's simply not the case.

@laFubina7 Yes love CAN suck so much. Especially when you love someone with a disorder! It's worse! We just have to remember that not everyone is the same. We live and learn and get smarter and stronger. :)

Maybe one day my attitude will be as good as yours. I still have some anger from the whole sociopath experience a few years ago, mostly b/c i'm disappointed in myself for being so stupid. But then I remember the guy heard dozens of private conversations with my coworkers before he began his plan on me. He is a predator and his wife left him recently. She can do better.

@thinlinebetweenable Don't be disappointed in yourself. Be proud that you got out of it. Be proud to say that you survived it and now you're a stronger person for it. We are smarter and stronger and now know the signs to look for. They didn't take anything away from us, on the contrary, they gave us the weapons to identify their kind and to stay far away from them and to never allow ourselves to become their victims.
