Laptop with 2.5 GB RAM and only 1.6GHz Processor? For Ubuntu that would run alright. Some stuff may be a bit slow though. For Ubuntu I recommend at least a dual-core processor.

go into the compiz config -> General options
-> Desktop Size and set 4 for Horizontal Virtual Size

Hey:D i am thinking about getting Ubuntu as i really don't lke the layout and interface of vista. I wanted to know if it will run alright on my computer/laptop. My specs are:
RAM:2.5GB
Processor: 1.6 ghz
Graphics: Mobile intel 945 express chipset family.
