DeFranco London YouTube Gathering

So overall I had an awesome time at the gathering and I'm really happy that I went, despite not getting to meet Phil.

In the unlikely event that you read this Phil, a message/suggestion for you:

I think the problem with the meet was that no one could hear you. I found out later that the security people were telling people to back away, but no one was listening. I think it would have been impossible for people to back away anyways because us at the back couldn't hear a thing and therefore didn't move.
Regarding your idea to hire a venue and do it that way I simply don't think that this would be as good just because people won't be able to just hang around and play ninja etc. I understand why you would do this, but I don't think it would be as great.
What I think you should have done is make the front row sit down (I'm sure they would have listened to you). Once they were sitting you get the second row to sit down etc, until everyone is sitting around you.
This would make it easier for people to see you, while you can communicate more effectively, and it would be a lot safer.
Then you could go up to groups of people in the front row and have them stand so that you could do whatever it is you do. Once you are done with that row you ask them all to leave so the next row can come etc until you have seen most people.
Might not have worked, but I think it would have been a better option.

Then at the end people would just hang out, you could go round playing ninja or whatever and it would have been even more awesome than it was :)

Anyways it all doesn't matter as I will see you in Kansas anyways :P

But it is probably the cost of that plus security that makes it so expensive.
