  • A lot of people will tell you a lot of really expensive options...and honestly Waves is the shit....but so is a million dollar SSL console....but who has that kind of money?

If you use Logic, Cubase, Fruity Loops, Reason, Ableton.... any of the major DAWs that are around, you have access to some good EQs in your included plugins....

In hardware, you have to deal with wiring and whatnot that can affect the sound. Software is just algorithms and most EQs are chosen as a matter of taste....

  • thanks! ive been boosting alot trying to make basses fatter and rawer but its always ended up muddy and really bad... now i understand why.. :)

  • @leparditas pros dont "just" cut. they do what ever is in need for the song. major boosting in synths not cutting

  • pro's dont boost just cut ...

  • eqing is for taking the mud out of your mix,mud is when instruments clash and you can't hear them clearly.avoid the mud and make it still sound sweet is the key.to help you beginners check this eqing chart, its a PDF photo, print it out and stick it somewhere infront of you for fast reference.hope that helps.

  • @djslipdisk The different sounds in the loop are sitting in there own frequency band so to speak. He tried to first accentuate the sound he wanted to decrease in the loop so he could hear it and then focused in on that frequency where only that sound was sitting thus only effecting that sound. Hope that makes sense
