I came across this rice harvester while on a bike ride in Taichung one weekend. These guys are hired by farmers during harvest time and are paid by the area worked. The rice is cut, the kernel separated from the stalks and stored in an internal bin while the stalks are dumped out the back of the machine. When it's all done, the harvester backs up to a waiting truck and the rice poured into the truck through an extendable boom. Pretty neat system. Notice the egrets that are milling about the harvester catching any insects stirred up by the machine.
