Lemme tell ya, I'm a gumbo snob from way back. However, I found out that for the last couple of years, my Grammy has been slippin jarred roux in her gumbo. I was sooo shocked! Kary's and Savoir's are actually pretty damn close to home .. I've found myself cheating when I'm in a hurry .. hardly no one notices the difference. Kid you not cousin!

yea, if your roux is peanut butter colored then you ain't done yet. You want your roux the color of dark chocolate. So many ppl posting their gumbo recipes and most of them are bad.

ive watched this video about 5 time already. im making gumbo for my husband the first time and i agree with sonnie i know it aint gone taste like yours but thats fine lol i wish your videos were numbered though

Pardon the slang, but ain't no pre-made roux gonna taste like the one you're making! I'm from the bayou Cajun area, made plenty of gumbo's, and I can see you know what you're doing. Best roux video yet. Mama always says, "stand over it till it looks like peanut butter." Ha.
