This scene still gives me goosebumps. Superb acting, pacing, direction and music. All the parts needed for greatness are there save one: Believability. I just can't get past that utterly *ridiculous* water-is-lethal-to-aliens plot device. Aliens want our planet but water is fatal to them? Waitwhut?? Why not something more believable like fruit juice or soda or *anything* but water? Our planet would seem like a toxic waste dump to them... and they WANT that?? Argh! /facepalm

@MisterMcKinney He's actually a Christian pastor who's lost his faith, that's why God sent the aliens to help him, and perhaps others around the world who aren't in the film. That's why I think Shyamalan decided to tell the story from Mel Gibson's character's viewpoint, to help remind us we should never lose faith.

@wowcreve I like the first half of it until I realized that Mel Gibson is a fundamentalist Christian, therefore be in a movie with a Christian bias towards the plot. Basically, God's playing favorites with his creations. It was all part of God's plan to have a guy fall asleep at the wheel, kill someone's wife, and just before she dies express a message about the future. In the mean time, send his other creations to a planet that comprises of a liquid that's pretty much lethal to them.

Despite what people think of Shyamalan as a filmmaker today, or the behavior of the actors in recent years, this is an amazing movie with a beautiful message. Thank you for uploading this wonderful scene!
