Travel with your dog to Myakka River State Park, Sarasota Florida!
The Dog Travel Network presents Makena and Bree as they take a day trip to Sarasota, Florida's Myakka River State Park. In this dog friendly adventure they hike in the tree tops on a canopy walk, watch wild animals and make new friends!
They even go alligator watching. Oh yes, it can be very dangerous and even deadly, so make sure you and especially your dog keep your distance from these wild amphibians. Make sure to stay at a safe distance and keep the dog on a short leash, this is always quite a site and well worth the adventure.
Myakka River is full of surprises and wildlife. On this trip they spot a bald eagle, a deer enjoying dinner by the side of the road and a pack of wild pigs grazing in the distance. As always Makena is quick to make a few friends....strange but he even met a couple of guinea pigs.
There is even a unique Outpost store full of neat outdoorsy and Florida lifestyle gifts. Dogs are not allowed inside the store, but are welcome to join you on the covered porch for a cold drink and a bite to eat. If you're lucky you may even get to enjoy some live blue grass music played by a local musician.
Camping, hiking, biking, boating, you name it, you can do it in Myakka River State Park, Florida!
